Located a short walk from Kamata Station east exit, sits a real “star” restaurant. Yildiz, meaning “star”, is an authentic Turkish restaurant and bar. The creator and owner, Kerem Kargi, is the son of a former embassy chef. His father opened a family run restaurant in Shinjuku, which Kargi learned everything he needed to create a fine Turkish dining experience. After working closely with his father for three years and building a custom menu, Kargi chose to open Yildiz Turkish Restaurant and Bar in Kamata. Not only for the vibrant city of Kamata, but also for its great location for travelers arriving to the Tokyo area. The JR Kamata Station is about a 30-minute train ride from Haneda Airport and is the visitors center of the Ota City area.

Upon entering the restaurant, guests are greeted with friendly faces, amazing smells of spices, and traditional Turkish decor. Kargi’s goal was to open a place that truly represented the beauty of Turkish culture with a modern feel. The menu is offered in Japanese, Turkish, and English including a language guide. All of the staff can speak Japanese and some can also speak English, Russian, and Arabic. . .

When most people imagine Turkish food, they immediately think of the kebab. While the kebab is the most popular dish at Yildiz, it is their original dish, the Yildiz Kebab, that is the best of everything this the restaurant has to offer. Star-shaped to match the theme, the Yildiz Kebab is a stylishly-prepared beef kebab served hot, with green peppers and traditional Turkish yogurt. This combination of spicy beef and tart yogurt, paired with real pomegranate juice, makes for a delicious and authentically classic Turkish taste. After enjoying the meal, guests can order the recommended Turkish tea, served elegantly in a beautiful gold and glass cup. The bar also offers a wide variety of alcoholic drinks during the evening service.

For those visiting with dietary restrictions, Yildiz Turkish Restaurant and Bar offers options for guests who are vegan, vegetarian, or those who might be looking for low-fat versions of dishes. One of the particular specialties of Yildiz Turkish Restaurant and Bar is that it serves authentic Halal food, essential for Muslims living or visiting in the Tokyo area.

The restaurant is open from 11:00 to 15:00 (last order 14:30) and is a popular lunch spot. But don’t worry, because the dinner service opens at 17:00 to 23:30 (last order 22:30). If you are traveling with a group or looking for a place for your next party, Yildiz takes reservations. For an extra special occasion, staff can book belly dancers on request.

The restaurant fits 20-25 guests, is smoke-free, and is family friendly. Yildiz Turkish Restaurant and Bar is also one of the 2017 Ota! Ichishi Gourmet selected winners for taste, service, originality.
