Celebrating Ota’s position as the “Gateway to Japan,” the International City Ota Festival (空フェス) annual event invites tourists to encounter a wealth of attractions, events and booths from all over the world.
Held in view of Haneda Airport—the world’s third largest in passenger traffic volume—the festival showcases the strengths of Ota City and provides tourists with many interesting ways to discover Japanese culture.
Every year in late September or early October, Ota celebrates its diverse culture with everything from Japanese traditional tea ceremony and cosplay contests to ice sculptures and modern dance contests. On the main stage of the event celebrity hosts keep the crowd entertained as performers and musicians from around the world dazzle the crowd.
Another main attraction is the World Food Court, where visitors can enjoy tastes from all over the world. Don’t be surprised to strike up a conversation with citizens from a dozen or more countries as you search for the perfect food selection.
As many countries from around the world have displays, this is event is a fine chance to learn about cultures while tasting their foods and shopping for unique gifts. There are numerous craft activities that visitors can participate in as well, allowing guests to take home a few hand-made souvenirs.
