From January 1st to 3rd , 2017, the eighth annual New Year Haneda Edo Festival 2017 will be held at Haneda Airport International Terminal. The theme for this year will be “Early Edo period during the reign of Tokugawa Ieyasu” and the city from four centuries ago will be reproduced at Haneda Airport. One of the main feature event will be the “Feudal lord’ procession,” held for the first time at this event, where Tokugawa Ieyasu and his samurais will stroll through the reproduced city he rules.
Other activities include mochi pounding, making samurai helmets and batons, painting daruma dolls, etc. There will also be calligraphy, shamisen (Japanese instrument), and kendama performances on the stage so there will be plenty of entertainment to enjoy throughout the day.
